Billions for Iraq

What is wrong with the Democrats in this country? Why are they voting to support Bush and Co.? Why are they voting to give $20 billion dollars to Iraq? Why didn’t they vote to make it a loan? Or vote not to do it all? Or vote to doing only a part of it? What or who are they so afraid of? Are they afraid of being called unpatriotic? Perhaps they should look closer to home and become patriotic and help this country not give aways to Iraq?

In my morning paper (The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson) there is an article on “How should U.S. spend $20 billion?” Here are some of the statistics from the article. The administration has requested $2.64 million for 80 pickup trucks at a cost of $33,000 each. The cost of a GMC truck is $15,454. The administration wants $400 million to build two 4,000-bed prisons at a cost of $50,000 per prison bed. It is estimated that it costs about $14,000 per bed to build a new prison in the United States. Communication tools, the administration has requested $3.6 million for 400 hand-held radios and 200 satellite phones at an average cost of $6,000 each. For about $500 one could buy a satellite phone and for about $60 a walkie-talkie radio. And then there is the other $67 Billion to help our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. My oh My.

This just blows my mind, we all know, or should by now, that Bush and Company are liars, they have lied constantly to the American people and to our elected officials. So………here comes Bush and Co. wanting $87,000,000,000.00 and everyone seems to believe that it is just and “they” didn’t fib this time. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

But then I figure this is what the taxpayer is going to end up paying for the no-bid contracts that are being handed out in blatant cronyism. But, you say, what about the $67 B going to help our troops. Let’s just see how much that turns out to be after we take out the money paid to those same no-bid contractors.

Enough is enough. When oh when are we going to stand up and stop this. There is no link and never has been to 9/11 and Saddam so get over it Democrats and go on a strong offense against Bush and Co. I am a Dean supporter and have been since May and I certainly hope he is elected the next President but he, we, you and me have to be strong and stand up to this machine that is Bush and Company.

I know this is long but I am so upset by what is happening to my country. I want it back from the fanatical right wing of what used to be the Republican Party. In order to win we also have to have all of the sensible Republicans vote Democrat. I fear we will have to win so solidly that “they” will have to cheat beyond all reasonableness to take the White House again. And don’t forget we have to win the majority back in the House and Senate and all other races being run in 2004.
